We woke up early Saturday morning to the shocking and unbelievable demise of VOG upon our return from the NBA NEC Meeting in Uyo.

The death of the past Chairman of Warri Branch of the NBA and the 1st Vice Chairman of the Midwest Bar Forum, a passionate bar man, Mr. Victor Omagbemi Grant Esq who has served the bar at all levels and in various capacities is, indeed, a colossal loss to the Nigerian Legal community.

I commiserate with the family of this great Icon, the good people of Warri Branch who took great care of me in Uyo during the NEC meeting, the Midwest Bar Forum which VOG served as its vice Chairman until his demise, and indeed, the National Executice Committee of the NBA over this great loss.

Today promised to be bright day until I received the shocking news of the untimely passing of Chief Victor Omagbemi Grant (past Chairman Nigerian Bar Association, Warri Branch).

It is difficult to believe he has fallen into eternal sleep. If only God would have allowed him to spend more time on this ephemeral plane.

It has taken me hours to come to terms with the sad reality that V.O. has indeed gone the way of all mortals. Little did I know our interaction, last Sunday at the NBA Warri meeting was the last time I would ever see him.I wish this was not true! Alas, he is fallen into a deep sleep.

I condole with his family and the entire members of NBA Warri branch on his untimely home call. I join in mourning him. He was a pillar of support . He would always be counted on in any battle to uplift the Bar and enthrone the rule of law and justice. He was not one to shy from fighting for what he believed in. His life was a source of great inspiration to all of us, his family, relations and friends.

He will be sorely missed by the NBA family in the old Midwest Region of Nigeria, where until his demise he served as Vice Chairman of Mid-West Lawyers Forum. He will forever be remembered for his incalculable involvement, support, advice, devotion to duty, selfishness, longstanding devotion and contribution as a member of the legal profession .

His home call has robbed the Bar of an outstanding leader. His fatherly advice, love and support will be greatly missed .

I am consoled that his leaving was as peaceful and stoical as he lived his life. It has pleases God to call him home at this time to rest eternally on his bosom.

Fare thee well V. O Grant, till we meet to part no more. Good night
